Thank You's

Lots of people were very helpful during this project and I want to formally thank them on the website.

Thanks to my wife, Melanie, who fully supported me not only in this project, but everything I do.  Boatbuilding can be expensive, time consuming, dirty, dusty, and at times, extremely frustrating.  Melanie never questioned the money I was spending on for what the longest time looked like an ugly conglomeration of wood that would never actually materialize into a useable boat.  She didn't complain about all of the time spent outside working on it.  She never complained about cleaning all my dusty dirty clothes and the mess I constantly made of the carport.  And when things didn't go right, she listened while I vented my frustration.  Thanks Melanie, I love you.

Thanks to my brother, Carl Cobb.  Carl is a very accomplished street rod builder in addition to being a jack of all trades (and master of most of them, too).  You can see some of his street rods by clicking here.  Carl machined the stainless steel components needed to convert a vintage motor to more modern teleflex steering, and professionally sprayed the paint and varnish finishes in his shop.  During the building process, he helped by answering numerous questions regarding sanding and filling so that the boat came out with smooth flowing lines.  He also helped me initially launch the boat, as I have minimal actual boating experience.  Thanks so much, Carl, for adding a professional touch to my project and sharing your knowledge.

Thanks to my nephew, Johnny McGee.  Johnny is the owner of Creative Woodworks Cabinet Shop in Prairieville, Louisiana.  Whenever I needed help ripping long thin pieces of wood that would have been unsafe for me to rip with my personal table saw, Johnny did so with his professional shop equipment.  Johnny also planed several pieces of wood for me and loaned me numerous clamps so that I didn't have to buy them for this one-time project.  Thanks a heap, Johnny, for your time and equipment use.

Thanks to all of the folks at Glen-L marine who provided the hull plans and operate the Glen-L boatbuilding forum where you can get any question answered regarding boatbuilding by someone who's already been there and done that.
